Fig and Caramelized Onion Flatbread is a simple, flavorful flatbread topped with sweet figs, slow-cooked onions, and creamy goat cheese. The onions are gently caramelized to bring out their natural sweetness, while the figs add a soft, fruity contrast. A sprinkle of fresh herbs and a drizzle of honey finish the flatbread, making it easy to prepare and full of balanced flavors.
Heat 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of olive oil in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add the sliced onions and cook for 25–30 minutes, stirring once in a while, until they turn deep golden brown and soft. In the last few minutes, mix in the balsamic sauce and a pinch of salt. Then remove from heat. Set your oven to 425°F (220°C) so it’s ready when you need it.
Put the flatbread on a baking sheet and lightly brush the top with olive oil.
Spread the caramelized onions over it first.
Add the fig slices and sprinkle the chopped herbs on top.
Bake for 8–12 minutes, until the edges of the flatbread are golden and crispy.
If you like, drizzle a little honey over the top. Add fresh arugula and crumble more cheese over it just before serving.
